Standardized tests stressing you out? Don’t worry, we’ve got your back! Here are 5 motivational ideas to boost your students’ confidence and help them rock their tests!. This can be led by school counselors with collaboration with teachers, administrators, parents and support staff. The students love and participate well at my school. Enjoy!
1. School Spirit Power!
Get pumped with a Spirit Week before the tests! Dress up in fun themes, have themed lunches, or organize a “Motivational Parade” where other grades cheer you on. It’s a great way to feel the school spirit and approach the tests with a positive attitude.
2. Words of Encouragement From Your Community!
Parents and teachers are students’ biggest fans! Ask them to write students short encouragement notes. These little pick-me-ups can remind students to give it their best shot. Try surprise notes hidden on the student’s desk or display the notes or encouraging posters in the hallways!
3. Tame Test Anxiety
Feeling nervous is normal! To manage these feelings, take a “Test Anxiety Self-Assessment“ online. This will help students understand more of how they feel and if they have any test anxiety. Guide students different calming strategies that work for them. There are many resources available to help you feel more comfortable and focused.
4. Positive Power Words!
Words have power! Create a positive test-taking mantra like “I am calm and prepared” or “I can do this!” Start saying it a few weeks before the test and repeat it to yourself during the test. These mantras can help you stay confident and focused.
5. Remember, You Got This!
Don’t dwell on the negatives. Focus on your strengths and all the hard work you’ve put in to prepare. Believe in yourself and trust that you’re ready to succeed. Use positive self-talk to stay relaxed and confident.
